Janice Pidgeon, M.S.
Janice began working at Helps Education Fund in 2018 as a Trainer and Implementation Specialist. Prior to working at Helps Education Fund, Janice taught elementary school for 30 years in upstate New York where she implemented the HELPS One-on-One Program in her classroom as a Title I Reading Specialist. Janice became a Certified HELPS Trainer in 2014. In addition to teaching, Janice was the Energy Manager for her district maintaining an energy program that kept over 2 million dollars in the school budget. For ten years she was the Director of Oneonta Reading Is Fundamental, Inc., a volunteer position where she worked to make sure all children had quality books of their own.
Janice earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and her M.S. in Reading from the State University of NY at Oneonta. She is a life-long learner having earned 150+ PD credit hours beyond her Masters degree.
Upon retirement in 2018 Janice and her husband, Tim, moved to NC to join their two sons. They are currently building a home in Durham. Janice enjoys reading, cooking, running, hot yoga, and playing Scrabble. She has taken a team of students to the School Scrabble National Championship twice!
