Katherine has multiple certifications in education and in English.
After Katherine earned her teaching certifications, she worked in one of Houston’s largest urban high schools for 15 years. She worked as an English teacher, AP English Language and Composition teacher, an AIG Coordinator, and Magnet Coordinator providing underrepresented students with multiple learning experiences. Katherine understands the unique needs and challenges of students, especially English language learners, students with learning challenges, and students in AIG programs. Outside of academics, Katherine loves visiting her grown children and family living in multiple states, thoroughly enjoys all kinds of music, hiking, traveling, camping, and stargazing. While being an avid bird lover and reader, Katherine’s eclectic nature also finds valuable time to cook, meditate, draw, paint, and practice playing the Celtic harp.
