Thank you so much for serving as a Virtual HELPS Tutor during the 2020-2021 school year. Below are notes from our team to further thank you for your service this year!
Dear Amazing HELPS Tutors,
I hope you are doing well and enjoying this glorious spring! I think of you all often and the children continued to ask about you after spring break. You formed such warm and caring relationships with your students which was a true gift to them. I have heard from so many parents how much their children loved coming to HELPS each day and how they would listen outside the room as their children joyfully read with you. They were thrilled to hear and see their children’s progress with reading and are so thankful to the HELPS tutors for supporting their children during a tough year!
Thank you for your gift of time and the love you shared with your students as you supported their reading fluency this school year! The children loved their books and letters from you. You all were so generous! I look forward to working with you all again next year as we work together to help close the achievement gap by providing this high-quality reading fluency support to CMS students. We could not have done this without your passion and support as tutors! I realize how lucky I was to work alongside such dedicated tutors!
I hope you all have a wonderful summer! I look forward to HELPS tutoring in the new school year with all of you!
All the Best,
Thank you HELPS tutors! What a year!!
Our teachers and scholars from Ashley Park send thanks to you for the beautiful books. And, Here is a link to the card sent from some of the Cornelius students to you. When all the pieces fit together, and you could actually serve the children's virtual HELPS sessions, you could see and celebrate the students' efforts and successes with their reading. How important you are!
If possible, please continue your service of helping others, especially to those who do not have much support with building their reading and confidence capacities.
With much appreciation, respect, and hopes to see you next school year,
Thank you so much for all of your time and dedication to the students. I know we encountered many obstacles this year, but it was also a very rewarding experience. The time you spent and the relationships you built will impact these children's lives more than we could imagine.
I also wanted to say thank you for being so patient and flexible and for all of the kind words throughout the year. I don't know if I would have made it through the year without all of the kindness extended from each of you. I have missed you all over this past month and I am hoping to see many familiar faces next school year. I hope you're having a lovely summer!
Dear Volunteer Tutors,
I’m Laura Tucker, the newest Site Coordinator/Implementation Coach working with HELPS Charlotte. I’m so excited to serve with you in the fall and continue the work of helping students to improve their reading while building relationships with you as their tutor and friend.
I was a tutor before joining the staff and I saw first-hand how dedicated you are to the
students and the HELPS program.
Thank you for your time and service this year, and I hope to work with you in the fall!
Hello HELPS tutors,
Thank you all so much for your dedication to improving the reading fluency of students. Virtual HELPS presented unique challenges this year, but your patience, flexibility, and hard work has been greatly appreciated and has not gone unnoticed!
When I was doing the end of year assessments and surveys with the students, I asked the students what their favorite part of HELPS tutoring was, and many students said that their tutors were their favorite part! Not only did the students enjoy working with you, but monitoring their data week to week, I can see the progress they are making each week. Many students were also very excited to receive new books, all thanks to your generosity with our book drive this year.
We could not have done this without you, and I sincerely hope to work with any of you wonderful folks in the future!
All the best,
Dear Helps Tutor,
This year has been a different one to say the least, but I want to thank each and every one of you for adapting to this virtual environment. You all were always ready to read with students - even if you were subbing and I truly appreciate that.
I enjoyed the little talks we had while waiting on students, learning little fun facts like Vitamin N intake (Thank you Mary and Karey!) & getting to know more about you all overall outside of reading. You all helped me in your own way get through the sometimes busy tutoring days, and I know your students were so excited to see you & receive the books you donated. Some have mentioned they started reading their books as soon as they received them! :)
Thank you all again & I hope to see you all next year.
I am truly grateful that I was given the opportunity to work together to increase the fluency growth of our students. I appreciate the professionalism and dedication that you displayed effortlessly.
While you were building the students academically, you were also building trustworthy relationships. You were dedicated to them on a weekly basis regardless of the obstacles this year provided us. This impacted our students beyond measure - I am ecstatic at the gains we made in the year!
I hope that you continue to see yourself volunteering as a HELPS tutor, and I look forward to seeing you in the fall.
I can't thank you enough for your dedication to our students this year! It was truly a pleasure to be greeted by your smiling faces day in and day out. My favorite part of tutoring was swapping stories of growth and laughter with you all.
I must also thank you for your flexibility and willingness to change your schedules to continue serving students. Our students benefited greatly from having a consistent positive force in their lives, thanks to you!
Please consider returning to work with HELPS next year. Your impact makes a huge difference!
