With support from the Charlotte team, the Tutor will play a critical role in delivering in-person, small group literacy tutoring to their designated elementary school within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Detailed Job Description

The primary tasks of the Tutor will include: 

  • Serve as Helps Education Fund’s representative at a designated school
  • Provide pre-planned, small group literacy tutoring sessions at your designated school
  • Manage relationships between school staff and Helps Education Fund
  • Build rapport with students while following a research-based lesson plan very closely
  • Collaborate with school-based and Helps Education Fund colleagues to support student progress
  • Communicate clearly with students, their school-based support systems, and your colleagues
  • Record data to document student progress – familiarity with Google Sheets is a plus

  • Passionate about promoting learners’ reading skills and self-confidence
  • A high school graduate at least 18 years of age

Pay and Benefits

Compensation for this in-person position begins at $20.00 per hour. This position does not qualify for benefits.

Work Environment

This in-person role will work at a designated school site with support from our Charlotte-based team. During the semester, tutors will complete approximately 16-20 hours of work weekly. Tutors will be assigned a designated school either on a semester or a year-long basis.
